Mark works as PR and Online Manager at The Creative Assembly. When he isn't playing the latest game releases, Mark spends his time continuing his mission
to watch every film in existence (twice).
Hailing from Southampton, Mark has a degree in traditional 2D animation, an unlimited cinema pass and an inexplicable fondness for Jaffa cakes.
He was bitten by the travel bug after spending a year living in Los Angeles, and places on his must-visit list currently include Hawaii, Egypt, Japan,
Australia and Loch Ness - because Nessie is still out there.
Since joining CA in September 2006, Mark has absorbed himself in all things Total War in a cunning attempt to improve his win/loss record in Medieval II's
multiplayer mode.
When he isn't reporting on the latest Total War news or cooking up new features for the websites, Mark likes to get CA's BAFTA out of the display
cabinet and practise his Oscar-worthy acceptance speech.
Biggest achievement to date; "Seeing five films in a row at the cinema, or possibly the time I received a funny audio message from Hulk Hogan!"

Even after doing a fresh install, 10 land battles later.. CTD. No problem, right? Loaded up last save, went to the same battle.. CTD. I then decided to do the old "Turn off the PC and turn it back on in order to dump the memory cache", and ta-da.. I can play through the land battle.. 2 land battles later.. CTD. Sounds to me, after all this time I've been nagging you about your engine's memory leak issues, you still haven't nipped the problem in the bud. You guys are by far the WORSE gaming company ever when it comes to next-gen stability.
I had to open five instances of Crysis and curl in the fetal position just to whisper to my souped-up rig that it isn't his fault. It's not my rig letting me down, it's your sheisty core-testing. Stop releasing teaser-patches and slay this dragon in one hit, Newb.

I appreciate you not blocking or deleting comments from the customers who really have something to say. Might wanna share that same ethic with the board nazis here who paint a picture of sunflowers and teddy bears. As a loyal gaming consumer, I have no problem putting my money in the hands of developers who make good games. Your company makes good games. E:TW? Not so much. Although I won't give up. Why? Because you still have my money. Oh, and I don't kiss ass like some of these fanbois & girls. I tell it how it is, straight up. Here's the message. CA needs to get their ass in gear. Stop pushing out useless patches every month and start focusing on the core issues that cause this game to be unplayable for the majority of players. So, here's the post I put up, that will most likely be deleted. I'll share it with you so you can act as a vault of sorts for those whove been silenced:
Don't make fun of the programmers or your post'll be deleted. In fact, requesting anything above their normal work flow from CA is grounds for post deletion. It's amazing how many unsatisfied customers are snuffed/banned out of existense for just stating the obvious.
Stability is key to making a game enjoyable. I'll take stability over the gloss and glam of graphics. Slowdowns in 21st century gaming on a hardcore rig is unacceptable. The majority of players here exceed the base requirements for this game, and I can run any current next gen game on my rig with no problem. I can run Sims 3 on 4 different windows before I notice a FPS slowdown. I run a tight-ship when it comes to my gear. Always have. Upgrade my equipment religiously every 6 months. But this game sure is a +@!$%!.
If CA just simply dropped the ball on this programming failure of E:TW's engine, and brought the same Empire Canon to Medieval 2's (nearly perfect) stable engine, I'd probably not leave my house for a few weeks. Maybe take some vacation time from work to enjoy a nice working stable game, with all the joys of 18th century warfare. It's all about the fun factor, it really is. The thrill of playing against an enemy that somewhat resembles the thought process of a 2 year old human is the scariest opponent one could ever face (I.e, M2TW, Very Hard/Very Hard). I really do hope CA tightens their shotgroup with the stability and mem leak issues. I want them to be successful, really. But, at this rate, we're not going to see a working stable game until the end of next year.

When are the Nvidia problems going to be fixed? I have this game from the start and I cannot play this game for more than 1 battle.
I am starting to feel disapointed and start to regret that I payed 60 euro's for stuff that doesnt work!
Regards,
Sander

I found myself dusting off Rome: Total War. I forgot how engrossingly addictive & fun that game can be. Sure the graphics suck, the army are clones- But as long as it's stable and offers a REAL challenge, I can play that game forever. The woe I feel when a hardened veteran family General dies in a siege from a random arrow, or the inspiration I feel from the motivating, and never-boring battle speeches, makes me continue playing this game even now. Im hitting it up as the Brutii on VH, and I'm almost at the finish line. It'll probably take me two or three more days and I can enjoy that nice bottle of merlot after my weeklong campaign towards victory.
E:TW? 22 turns later and I crash. Can't we all forget this chapter of CA's legacy ever existed? Like Squaresoft forgot Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest ever existed?
It pains me to see E:TW still on the shelves of stores everywhere. Just to know that everyone buying it, is buying a broken game.

it seems like theres never ending revolts in the game since to new update came out.
is there a reason why this keeps happening?
the game does seemed to be more stablized as far as the crashes that were accuring
which is very good.
i think if there wasn't so many revolts within countrys it would improve playing performace

I'm not going to say thanks seeing as i'm getting what I paid for, I may be a bit pre emptive about this but i'll say well done instead.
I noticed that that was deleted.
And a quick comment about somoene saying my avatar was annoying. That comment soon dissapeared along with my avatar. I was only a cartoon animal face with its tongue poking out. Who looks at avatars anyway? I find it quite childish that it would be deleted.
I started playing total war since Shogun, and i've allways loved your games. And EMpire does seem to be taking shape. But I don't appreciate some of the attititudes of those that fund CA and who obviously work for them, as what one might call a loyal fan I feel somewhat turned off by some of the attitudes displayed by distributers (Sega) and in fact some of your own staff. It feels a bit like being spat at in the face by someone you've supported and recommended to people for so long.
I should perhaps be far more grown up about this than I curently am, but at teh end of the day this is how I feel.
Feeling personally wounded. GNarf

Would you read and reply on the topic as follows?
Is the localisation of ETW allowed?
Sincerely.
